  • YOUTH OF THE YEAR: We are excited to announce our 2010 Youth of the Year nominees! They are: Stephany Serrano, 15, from East Stuart; Anthony Smith, 16, from Port Salerno; Ashley Bilodeau, 15, from Palm City; Uzziah Davis, 13, from Indiantown; and Marian Harriel, 12, of Hobe Sound. All nominees and the official Youth of the Year will travel to Sarasota later this spring to compete against the representatives from the other Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Florida. Best of luck to them all!

  • HOMECOMING A SUCCESS!: What a great time was had at our Second Annual Homecoming, held on Dec. 17th at the Cole-Clark branch! We had dance performances, singing, Broadway-style musical theatre, games, food made by our culinary club members and much more! Three alumni Club members were inducted to our Alumni Hall of Fame, as their success in their professional and personal lives highlight our mission of living to your full potential! They are: Dustin Cooper, George Hodge and Jason Owens. Our National Fine Arts Exhibit was a lot of fun, too! Many thanks to the judges: Ginger Baldwin, a professional artist and assistant to state Sen. Joe Negron; Bert Krebs, a member of the Cole-Clark branch board; Jamie Powell, Boys & Girls Club volunteer and professional artist; and Sylvia Gingras, a former elementary school art teacher. Check out our Facebook page for photos of the artwork! Remember, all alumni are welcome to “Come Home” and stop by the Club anytime!

  • INDIANTOWN CAPITAL CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED: Boys & Girls Clubs officials have announced a plan to build a new, 20,000-square-foot Club branch on 6.5 donated acres in Indiantown. The goal is to raise $3.5 million, with a plan to pursue a LEED environmental building certification and create educational programs centered on renewable energy. The new facility will allow the Clubs to double membership, offer improved programs especially in the arts, and provide space for other community groups to meet and partner with the Clubs. We hope to break ground at the end of summer, 2010. • BEST EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN THE STATE!: Our Crocodile Explorer program, which teaches environmental conservation and education to our Cole-Clark branch members, was named the best educational program in the state by the Florida Area Council of the Boys & Girls Club of America! This program is generously underwritten and developed by Rick Johnston and his mother, Betsy, both of Hobe Sound. The children love it! Check out a few photos here and here.

  • LEAVE A LEGACY: Sara Delano Roosevelt – who many know and love as Sally Stroh, our Cole-Clark branch board member who normally goes by her nickname and married name – is part of a small group of women working with retailers and manufacturers to create a line of cause-marketed products that will give back to charities like the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. We’re so proud to have a dedicated branch board member making a difference nationally, and we hope all our Boys & Girls Clubs family will leave their own important legacy!
